This adventurous day hike involves an early morning ride to the top of Lipton Seat, with spectacular views in all directions over lush green tea fields, followed by a steep, winding climb down local tea plucker paths, through tea fields and jungle back to Eagle Rock.
Motoring to the Top of Lipton Seat
Ascending the mountain where Thomas Lipton launched the modern tea industry is a feast for the senses. On good days, the scenes of tea pluckers laboring in brilliant green fields, as clouds swirl and the mountain drops away behind, is exquisite. And often enough these gentle scenes can change in seconds when a storm quickly blows in and visitors forsake their photo opportunity with Thomas Lipton’s statue for a seat in a cozy tea shop until the squall passes.
