Perched high on a mountain spur overlooking lawns, gardens and verdant green tea fields Eagle Rock is a working estate producing tea, coffee, cinnamon and pepper, along with a wide variety of other fruits and spices. The estate descends from a much larger tea estate carved from the valley more than 100 years ago by a prominent Tamil family and has been producing quality Uva tea ever since.
This was our favorite place to stay in Sri Lanka. The house is lovely, the grounds are gorgeous, and the view is spectacular. Warm and welcoming, our host Tim and his staff (especially Aruna) left no detail unturned. All of our meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were outstanding and were some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. We really loved our stay at Eagle Rock Estate and you will too. We hope to return some day soon. It’s a very special place.

“Oasis in the hills”
Eagle Rock is an oasis in the hills/mountains. The hospitality is perfect and the food cooked each night by the onsite staff is the best curries I had in Sri Lanka. The beer is also ice cold and filtered water is always available. The rooms are beautiful but not ostentatious. The local walks are right out the front door to Eagle Rock, Ella Rock and Amba Lodge is down the hill for ethical tea production and a brilliant tour. Also, finally, and most importantly, the dogs join you for walks, Batu came all the way to Ella Rock with us (4hr hike!). Amazing doggy.

Beautiful setting and view
We enjoyed a fantastic 2-night stay here in April 2025. Beautiful setting and view, welcoming team, delicious food - watching monkeys from our terrace, did some beautiful hikes and just enjoyed. Will be back soon. thank you Tim & team

“Sanctuary in Tea Country”
Sanctuary in Tea Country with Unbeatable Views, Peacocks and 5 Star Service
Photos simply don’t capture the beauty and tranquility of Eagle Rock Estate. This guest house is nestled in a working tea estate. The views are breathtaking. Unlike many guest houses perched on a cliff, the house has a sweeping, large landscaped lawn. Every room along with the two cottages have a beautiful view of the mountains and surrounding area. Peacocks roam around the property, and perch on trees, an absolute delight. The staff were friendly and helpful - Arjuna, the manager and head chef produced delicious fresh meals to our specifications adept at local and international cuisines.

“Not to miss”
This is a beautiful estate with a colonial atmosphere, spacious rooms, powerful showers, very good breakfast and friendly staff. The environment is stunning, you can do walks, visit tea & coffee plantations, buy tea, coffee and cinnamon. Not to miss if you tour through Sri Lanka.

“Relaxing escape”
The trip to Eagle Rock Estate in Ambadandegama was a very relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. If you like Ella but don't like to be among the other thousands of tourists, Eagle Rock is your answer. The views from the top of the estate is much better than the views from Ella Rock. Tim is a very generous host who enjoys taking guests on hikes and can give pointers on things to do around. The chef Aruna is a trained chef who is adept at churning out both local and Western dishes. During our stay he made us Auburgine Parmigiana, Shakshuka, Indian style Biriyani, Banana cream pie and a few local fares.
